BLS for Healthcare Providers — Step by Step

1

Schedule Your Skills Check-Off Date

Right after registering, you'll have the opportunity to schedule your in-person skills check-off date. Choose a date and time that works for you — this is when you'll come in to complete your hands-on skills evaluation.

Travel is free if you are within 20 miles of Piedmont Atlanta.

2

Confirmation Email + Check-Off Scheduling Link

Within a couple of hours of registering, you'll receive a confirmation email from [email protected]. It will include your registration details and a link to schedule your in-person skills check-off if you haven't already. Check your spam folder if you don't see it.

Didn't get it within a few hours? Email [email protected] with your name and the class you registered for.

3

Receive Your HeartCode® Online Module

After registration is confirmed, watch for an email from CPR Training School ([email protected]) with your access link to the AHA HeartCode® BLS online self-paced module at eLearning.heart.org. This is your online portion — complete it before your in-person skills check-off date.

The module email comes from [email protected] via eLearning.heart.org. Add both to your safe senders list so it doesn't land in spam.

4

Complete the HeartCode® Module at Your Own Pace

Log in to eLearning.heart.org and complete the AHA HeartCode® BLS module. It typically takes 1.5–2 hours and can be done in one sitting or across multiple sessions. The module covers CPR technique, AED use, and relief of choking through interactive video and knowledge checks.

5

Email Your Module Completion Certificate

Once you finish the HeartCode® module, download your completion certificate and email it to [email protected] before your skills check-off date. This confirms you've completed the online portion and are ready for the in-person session.

Subject line: "HeartCode BLS Certificate — [Your Name]"

6

Confirm Payment

Payment is due before or at the time of your skills check-off. BLS Initial: $75 · BLS Renewal: $60. A payment link is included in your confirmation email. Cash, Zelle, and card are accepted.

7

Arrive on Time for Your Skills Check-Off

Please arrive 5–10 minutes early. Bring a valid photo ID and your printed or digital HeartCode® completion certificate. Wear comfortable clothes you can move in — you'll be on the floor practicing compressions. The skills check-off runs approximately 30–45 minutes.

8

Receive Your AHA BLS Card

Upon successful completion, your AHA BLS Provider card will be issued digitally within 1–2 business days. You'll receive an email with your eCard link directly from the American Heart Association. Your card is valid for 2 years.
